Dyeing
with ice creates an unusual "painterly" quality to the finished
piece. I start by soaking the fabric in a solution of soda ash and water. Next
I manipulate the fabric in some type of pail or bucket, add some ice and dry
dye powder and wait patiently for 24 hours. I'm always delighted to pull the
fabric from the dye baths to see how the colors have migrated and blended
together with no two pieces ever being the same.
All
fabric is washed in Synthropol but if you plan to wash your finished piece I recommend
washing the fabric again separately in cold water before you start your
project.
The
fabrics are for sale and a description is listed under each photo. Paypal is
accepted for all purchases. Please note shipping charges are additional.
